More Information about Chamberlain PP5/400 Mono block amplifiers
Chamberlain mono block amplifiers designed around the PP5/400 and Partridge transformers.
A pair of hand made valve amplifiers using the famous Partridge C Core TK7441 output and TK
8240 power transformers, potted our selves for aesthetics.
They were designed and buiilt by myself and Mike Chamberlain in 1997. Mike is a retired BT engineer and designed these single ended monoblocks for use with ultra efficient speakers such as the Tannoy Autograph and Westrex Acoustilens.
After exhaustive testing we decided upon the Mazda PP5/400 PX25 as our power tube in preference to just about all the options including WE300A and B tubes.
They currently have reproduction KR Enterprise equivalents with their original boxes.
They are a 3 stage design using a CV1067 6J5 equivelant, MHL4 and the PX25, the rectifier is the Mazda UU5.
The chasiss are professionally folded steel with internal steel frame for the mounting of internal hardware and valve.
Stainless steel is used for the valve bases and the rotary on/off control.
4 pairs were manufactured in total, pairs sold in South Korea and Japan Mike has his and this is my pair for sale.
They weigh 21.5kg each due to the massive transformers, chokes and steel chasis.
The sound quality is sublime when using the right speakers.
