More Information about Turntable -SME 3009 Tonearm -Ortofon quintet black cartridge
My late father custom built this record deck about 8 years ago to listen to his treasured classical vinyl. Going through paperwork/receipts and researching online the spec that I can work out is:
Turntable of unknown origin (but knowing my father it will be decent quality!)
SME 3009 Series II tonearm - clean and all the bearings move smoothly. Comes complete with SME headshell, bias weight etc. Don’t know what was paid for this but second hand ones are on ebay for £370 - although a bit shinier than this - I do have original instruction booklet.
Ortofon Quintet Black cartridge. I have the receipt for this - my father exchanged an MC30 Supreme cartridge and paid £470 for the Black cartridge
Origin Live TKMEXTE external DC advanced motor kit tall pulley includes DC200 motor, speed control box and 950mm high performance flat belt. Total paid for this was £432. I have instructions for the motor kit.
AVUPLAT upgrade platter mat - paid £32.
Hart Shunt feedback pick-up pre-amp. Can’t find out much about this but I know my father was using it with all the above components - interconnect cables supplied.
For stablility my father cast concrete housings - one for the turntable and one for the tonearm. These are very heavy! He then made a rudimentary wooden frame/box to sit them in, plus an additional housing for the motor. All in all mightily heavy so this would be collection only. However, I could dismantle and bubblewrap parts separately without the housing and get a cost for delivery.
My father also made his own interconnects/mains cables. I can supply some of these.
I’ve checked everything works perfectly. Contact me for more photos and questions which I will try to answer!
