15/10/2013 - The Music Room - 2013
Plans for the year ahead feature new product lines: TEAC’s Distinction range offers Esoteric’s expertise at accessible prices which our friends find eyewatering and unbelievable. The musical presentation is more “raunchy” so the extreme subtlety and finesse of Esoteric is exchanged rather than lost.
Focal’s astonishing Utopia series III range displaces Zingali at The Music Room and the world’s greatest ear speakers have arrived. In 2013, aware of counterfeit products from the east, the prestige products from Sennheiser will be available only from a selected group of dealerships called Club Orpheus after the celebrated concept headphones. A new energiser (costing £1,200 with digital input as an optional extra) will lift the performance of the £1,000 HD-800 ear speakers to level we have not heard before; certainly not attainable from loudspeakers costing ten times as much, like the £22,000 Focal Scala Utopias.
At this exalted price level, the new Gryphon Pandora pre-amp, Legato Legacy MC phono amp, and the mighty Mephisto amplifier should not be mistaken as marketing exercises. To hear them is immediate revelation that Gryphon is ten or more years ahead of the best of the rest, just as they were when they launched the DM-100 amplifier all these years ago.
Please do not think The Music Room is for Millionaires. We can select budget components and complete systems starting from £2-3,000 from Audio Analogue, TEAC, Triangle and others who make products far superior to online “bargains.” Our sister company Hi-Fi Shop dot com continues to outperform and undercut other suppliers of cherished (used) and ex-dem products.
Last but not least, we can greatly enhance your existing system by solving the problem of contaminated mains, simply and cheaply. Most commercial devices cause more problems that they solve. Ten years ago, rather than jump on the bandwagon, we asked one of our customers to develop what became the AudioSource E4/6 (using a simple passive filter). A 6-way device costs only £459. Now HiFi In Touch introduced us to their Oak boxes, which we use to great effect in our £200,000 reference full Gryphon system. A 6-way device – the E5/6 costs from £395 (Low noise silver plated socket version £495) including postage. It is amazing value and a true solution to a difficult challenge, vibrations which travel along the mains wires.
With the Music Room as pacemakers for over thirty-two years, you know who is at the other side of your mouse click. We don’t just say we care, we prove it. We survive because we supply the best products at the best prices.
